On New Year’s Day, this 306-unit apartment complex located in Atlanta’s Upper Westside was struck by a Tesla driven by an intoxicated driver struck the transformer supplying power to the property, triggering a significant underground electrical fire and causing a complete power outage across the complex.
With severe cold weather approaching and residents without power, the property management team contacted Commercial Disaster Recovery (CDR) for emergency response assistance. CDR responded immediately, evaluated the property’s power requirements, and rapidly deployed temporary power distribution equipment and generators to stabilize the complex and restore critical services.
Our team mobilized personnel, generators, and temporary power distribution equipment immediately following the incident, restoring power to the property in under 24 hours. The project also included installation of entirely new main electrical lines running from the transformer to the building’s main switchgear system.
